OUD WOOD
Derived from Agarwood, it is a dark resin obtained from the bark of special South-East Asian trees that can reach up to 40 metres in height. Known for thousands of years in Japan, India and the Middle East, it was called the “wood of the Gods” in antiquity and was widely used as incense in mystical and religious ceremonies. The resin in distilled form is used in the perfumery for the preparation of the most sought-after essences. There are various species and qualities of Oud wood; that of Yemen is the rarest and most precious.
