“It all started in the 70s with the meeting between the chemist-soapmaker, André Chapuis, from Cher with Dominique and Rosine Dauge, farmers on the family estate at the entrance of Fontevraud l’Abbaye. A meeting that changed forever the way of seeing the art of French savonnerie.
Thus, more than 40 years ago, the Martin De Candre artisanal soap factory was born.

The Historic Estate, the agricultural domain and all the seductive green oasis around the property were used for the production of what will later be defined as the most refined shaving soaps (and artisanal bath products) in the world.

Renowned company, especially for its shaving soap, Martin de Candre is the result of a family adventure that knows, exploits and at the same time preserves, a KNOW-HOW that has now disappeared in France today.
